Following our road trip we travelled to Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia to complete the W-Trek, a five day hike through the national park.

We flew from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales in the south of Chile. To start the W trek we took a bus into the national park, and then a beautiful ferry trip across Lago Pehoe to get to our starting point of the trek. On our first day we hiked 11km to Refugio Grey where we spent our first night.

On our second morning we walked to view points to see the Grey Glacier which was beautiful. After exploring the area we walked 11km from Refugio Grey to Paine Grande where we spent our second night.

Our third day was a long day of walking, around 21km total! We hiked from Paine Grande to Camping Francés where we spent the night. We took a side hike through the Francés valley with beautiful views, including seeing several small avalanches on the surrounding mountains!

On our fourth day we hiked 18km from Frances to Camping Chileno, our final campground. This was the most challenging day for us, because the whole 18km was done with our full packs!

We had a very early start on our final day, getting up at 3am to start hiking at 3.30am to get to Base Torres viewpoint for sunrise. Unfortunately the weather did not work in our favour, and the towers were hidden in the cloud when we finally got there! It was so cold at the top (you can see how rugged up we are in the photos!), but we still enjoyed a quick chocolate break with some new friends before hiking back to camp for breakfast. After breakfast we hiked to the Torres del Paine welcome centre to get our bus back to Puerto Natales.

Our next stop (after showering and recovering!) is a bus over the border into Argentinian Patagonia to visit El Chalten!
